How do we make an...
Impact
We recently asked our veterinary partners and our service users to tell us about the scheme and what it means to them.
Michelle, cat owner
Michelle had found herself caring for three 4 month old kittens suddenly due to some sad events in her wider family. As she was currently not working (sue to start a new job in the NHS with a deferred start) her funds were short and she was aware the kittens might start breeding soon. She said:
"It was really a big relief that I could get help through the neutering scheme (C4). I didn't have a lot of disposable cash and took them on reluctantly through family circumstances, with the expectation I would be able to fund their spaying when I started work, which now won't happen for a bit.
It's been a huge help to get the chipping and spaying done - I was able to cover the vaccinations myself. I do intend to find them homes but this way I can take some time over it and also not have to worry about relying on it being done in their new homes. It was really easy to see if I qualified and understand the process by being able to follow it on the web page and be able to get the vet to take care of all the applications".

Flo, Registered Veterinary Nurse, Medivet.
"We were able to assist in neutering over 300 cats on the C4 scheme and support clients who may not normally be able to access veterinary treatment, reducing wait times for those only eligible for charitable care.
The scheme allows us to prioritise animal welfare, particularly for strays and multi-cat households - providing a real sense of achievement. We would not be able to provide this level of support without the scheme.
As clients can see our details on the C4 website they can locate and contact us - we would otherwise have no way of identifying those most in need."
